Executive Functioning and the Gallatin Experience: Join us for a panel, discussion, and food-imbued night, to discuss how to manage the heavy load of picking classes, creating a concentration, and managing a colloquium! This is our first meeting. Location: Gallatin Student Lounge (Room 522, 1 Washington Place).

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Walk: Our GDC team (page found here) is going to be virtually and in-person “walking” in the AFSP walk in Manhattan, which raises money and awareness for suicide prevention. All efforts will be made to make this experience accessible for all. Donate and/or join us when you can!

Sep 30, 2021 6:00pm-7::00pm ESTAnti-Vaxx Language Usage: Erasure of Severities: Collaboration with the League of Linguistics (LoLs) at NYU  featuring Guest Speakers Dr. Reed Jordan and Dr. Maia Woluchem to discuss how anti-vaxxers have been misusing terms that are language associated with systemic racism. In addition, talk about how anti-vaxxers statements affect the disabled community.
Oct 7, 2021 7:30pm-8:30pm ESTThe Stigma on Mental Health: We will talk about the social and cultural barriers as well as economic constraints that prevent people from seeking help. Guest speaker Yasmine Garay will be presenting on how the stigma affects Latine people for Latine Heritage month. 
Oct 14, 2021 6:00pm-7:00pm ESTRacism within the Disability Community: We will be talking about how racists use their invisible/ physical disability or  mental health to not be held accountable for their remarks and actions.

Nov 4, 2021 6:00pm-7:00pm ESTPolice Brutality and Interactions with people with disabilities: Collaboration with Gallatin Law society and Secret Guest Speaker from NYU School of Law. We will talk about the Black Lives Matter movement and how people with disabilities are treated in the prison system.

Indigenous Identities + Disability: We will cover topics about how an environment can cause disability such as climate change and eco-crimes. As well as how an environment can define disability based on their way of life.  
December 1,  2021 6:00pm-7:00pm ESTCapitalism + Pharma’s Influence in the Medical Field We will be talking about how big Pharma is influential in treatment diagnosis. We will also bring up how psychedelics are being tampered with to increase productivity which both are linked due to capitalism.
